Mapmaking

This is an index page that will contain links to maps, data sources and tools that are used to make maps; as of now, Feb 2014, this will include only a few items, but steadily more will appear in this space.

  1. Hello, I would like to know if there is a reason behind the orientation of the hexes on your maps. Thank you.

  2. As opposed to the flat part of the hex being on the bottom.

    The maps are a series of concentric rings that wrap outwards from the North Pole, with each hex ring measuring a scale of latitude ~ about 0.28 degrees per hex, top to bottom. This method could not work with the problematic arrangement of hexes as they are usually depicted on hex maps, which is done only so that it is easy to label the bottom of the hex. You will note I label the bottom right, which works fine.
